With the season still looking very shaky for Chelsea, the goal involvement numbers recorded at the Bridge are proving somewhat otherwise. This article will be splitted into two parts, with the first part outlining the numbers recorded for the most regular players in all competitions.
Quite a number of players than usual can be called regulars for Chelsea due to injuries that have been taking turns within the squad this season. Of Chelsea’s 34 men squad, 12 have been seen more often than the others. Here is a breakdown of these 12 men in numbers.
Limited to outfield players
1. Romelu Lukaku:
The big Rom himself! Since rejoining Chelsea, Lukaku has not been able to hit the ground running as expected but has still managed to rack up fair numbers in all competitions for Chelsea in the following categories.

2. Mason Mount:
Chelsea’s golden boy has evidently had his ups and downs this season too but his numbers aren’t bad either.

3. Jorginho:
The man of the season, as this season is looking like his season. Penalties here, penalties there. The Italian maestro has scored braces of penalty kicks this season.

4. Reece James:
The very own James Bond of Chelsea, always in action and at alert. James was piling up some drastic numbers before injury put his wheels to brake. He had back to back goals, back to back assists. James is arguably a complete right-back.

5. Callum-Hudson Odoi:
An average Chelsea fan will have an issue with Odoi as a player once in a while. But, the academy graduate has proven to be vital this season as he has pulled Chelsea out of their bluntness occasionally thanks to his flexibility, pace and ability to drive the ball. His most recent goal involvement is a beautiful assist for Ziyech’s screamer against Tottenham Hotspurs.

6. Hakim Ziyech:
The wizard of Amsterdam seems to be getting his wand of a left foot back in action more consistently. His critics seem to be cooling off on their cristicisms gradually. And well, his omission from Morocco’s AFCON 2021 squad might be helping him and the club. Ziyech has enjoyed more playing time of recent and have been returning these minutes with some impressive numbers. One never to be forgotten is his ‘Ziyech signatory goal’ against Tottenham.

7. Mateo Kovacic:
The man who always has his way of moving the ball irrespective of how cornered he is. Kovacic’s season was put to a pause due to a muscle injury that put him out of action for about a month. But since getting back on the pitch, he has proven why Chlesea fans randomly whispered his name in distress during and after the matches he missed. A highlight of his season so far will be far from complete without mentioning his ‘amazing piece’ against Liverpool in the premier league.

8. Antonio Rudiger:
I do not know who gave him the name ‘Hustle’ but he seems to have adopted it as it is occasionally tagged with his tweets. This german defence block has been all round solid and vital for Chelsea this season. Rudiger seems to be more passionate about getting involved at the other end of the pitch this season, than ever.

9. Thiago Silva:
Many do not attribute hard work and commitment to Brazillian players but i believe many will agree to make an exception with Thiago. The 38yrs old is proving repeatedly that age is just a number. Thiago has been a key part of Chelsea’s defence so far this season. He has been getting his fair share of the spoils across the other end of the pitch also.

10. Kai Havertz:
Havertz has played quite a number of roles across the front three since joing Chelsea but has played the ‘false nine’ role more often this season. He has a good record as a number 9 from his previous club and has continued in that fashion since joining Chelsea.

11. Ngolo Kante:
The signatory ‘No. 4’ of Chelsea, Kante, has been ever present for Chelsea as usual when available. Injury has slowed down the pace of Kante’s season but his numbers are not bad compared to previous seasons.

12. Marcos Alonso:
The 31yrs old set-piece major had a wonderful beginning to the season when he was a regular in the left wing-back postion, and has again reclaimed that spot since Ben Chilwell’s injury. Alonso despite his ups and downs has regularly racked up some impressive numbers for Chelsea when given the opportunity. This season though, he has had a number of fine displays but the goals and assists haven’t really been coming.
